Summer Classes
I am enrolled in the Auckland University of Technology. I took two classes in the summer semester, and am currently taking one right now plus my internship. My first class was one ran by Boston University about the history, culture, and sociology of New Zealand. It was incredibly interesting, and has given depth to my experience here that I don't believe I could get anywhere else. I also took a class at AUT, Facilities Development and Design. I thought it would be interesting, but in fact, it made me want to blow my brains out. The course work here is not nearly as hard, aka not as interesting, as I am use to in the states. The course went from Monday to Thursday 8 to 5, and my other class was Tuesday and Wednesday from 5 to 7. In the design class I was only taught how to do the project, and learned literally nothing useful for real life. It was disappointing, but oh well. I am currently enrolled in Gastronomy, which is the study of culture and food. I am taking it to satisfy a hospitality elective credit. It is really really interesting, i love the text book, I love talking in class, and I love my professor. He is one of the judges of New Zealand's top chef TV program. I have to write an essay about a dish that is particular to an event, including all the culture and history that goes into that dish. I am proud to say I will be writing about Sou de Pesce. So I figure 2 out of 3 is not bad, and they should all be gpa boosters. Yay Class!
